Due to the crazy days of August, the All The Writers I Know reading was not held, but don’t fret because two of ATWIKs former performers will be reading/hosting events at the end of this month.
Patrick Gill (ATWIK host/performer/bartender/lover) will be performing at The Paper Machete Show on August 27th- a weekly FREE news magazine at Horseshoe on Lincoln Ave. (4115 N. Lincoln to be exact, and at 2pm). The performers are funny and insightful, the drinks are cheap (I believe) and the cost is the cheapest (free). Look into all the amazing shows they have had at thepapermacheteshow.com- a lot of their stuff is podcast’d so get into it!
Patrick, on August 31st, is also teaming up with Adam Guerino (reader at Femme Fucking-Tastic) for WE ARE HALSTEAD- a benefit for the homeless youth of Chicago (http://www.centeronhalsted.org/coh/calendar/newevents-details.cfm?ID=1789). This is a variety show with a heart of gold, featuring comedy (Gwen La Roka and Nyle Fisher), music (Fatally Cool and Valarie Dolls-a good old fashion drag belter), A JERRI BLANK IMPERSONATOR, and much more. There will also be a silent auction with fab prizes like tickets for four to Zanies comedy club, fancy cheese baskets, tickets to Chicago Shakespeare Co., and the price of admission is only 5 dollars. This is a fundraiser so you can donate extra, but just because you don’t have too much cash that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t see a fun show for a good cause. Adam is hosting this night and Patrick will be doing a piece on what it means to live off of Halsted.
We really hope the summer is treating you all right, and that you can make it to either of these shows. Remember we are trying for September reading, we are currently in need of a space (Patrick is moving out of SWISSHaus). But there are rumblings of bigger and better things for All The Writers I Know.
