Presenting: Things Already Said

Hello Interwebs,

All The Writers I Know will be making a glorious return to Quimby’s (Chicago’s Legendary Purveyor of DYI and Baddass Lit) on November 17th, at 7 oclock.  It will be hosted by Mar Curran (poet, In Our Words contributor, Co-Producer of Word Is Out and this night) and feature folks like H.Melt, Ali Scott, and Jayson Brooks (more performers to come later).

This time around the theme will be Things Already Said.  Examining conversations overheard and had, music that moves them, and words that mean something deep down deep to them, the performers will bring you poetry, prose, and a little piece of themselves.

Quimby’s/This Night is:

Amazing

BYOB (If that’s what you like, I swear were good sober too)

ANOTHER ROUND BARKEEP!

We are returning to the SHoP!  Our next show is themed "Families: Blood and Chosen"

They are who we come from, they are the ones we love- they are our family.  Please meet our families, however we define them.  Patrick Gill, Rosy Phinick, Mar Curran, Dee Michel, Jamie Royce, and Kelsey Rebecca will be preforming.  December 14th, 8 p.m. at 5638 South Woodlawn Street, in Hyde Park/Woodlawn (Right near the U of C campus, at the historic Fenn House).

In case you missed us

Our last show was November 2nd, at the SHoP (Southside Hub of Production).  The theme was “Eras: Our Past and Present”, and our performers were incredible- Dee Michel, Quinn Stifler, Lindsey Dietzler, Adam Guerino, Mar Curran, Rosy Phinick, and Patrick Gill.  We really wish you had been there, but if you weren’t- HEY, WE GOT PODCAST’D.

The people at the Chicago Center for Literature and Photography graciously recorded the night.  THANK YOU!

We still love you, so we will update more often.

I will spare you that “It’s been a while” line, internet.

Just know that after a month of in the summer we have had one show (at the lovely Southside Hub of Production- http://southsidehub.org/) with a bevy of babes and gents- more on that in upcoming posts- and we are performing again at the SHoP on the 14th.

I know tumblr-verse/ATWIK family (if you are there), I’ve been paying attention to your sister In Our Words (inourwordsblog.com), but you mean so much to me.  I will show you how much I care, I promise.

Aug

Two of the writers you know

Due to the crazy days of August, the All The Writers I Know reading was not held, but don’t fret because two of ATWIKs former performers will be reading/hosting events at the end of this month.

Patrick Gill (ATWIK host/performer/bartender/lover) will be performing at The Paper Machete Show on August 27th- a weekly FREE news magazine at Horseshoe on Lincoln Ave. (4115 N. Lincoln to be exact, and at 2pm).  The performers are funny and insightful, the drinks are cheap (I believe) and the cost is the cheapest (free).  Look into all the amazing shows they have had at thepapermacheteshow.com- a lot of their stuff is podcast’d so get into it!

Patrick, on August 31st, is also teaming up with Adam Guerino (reader at Femme Fucking-Tastic) for WE ARE HALSTEAD- a benefit for the homeless youth of Chicago (http://www.centeronhalsted.org/coh/calendar/newevents-details.cfm?ID=1789).  This is a variety show with a heart of gold, featuring comedy (Gwen La Roka and Nyle Fisher), music (Fatally Cool and Valarie Dolls-a good old fashion drag belter), A JERRI BLANK IMPERSONATOR, and much more.  There will also be a silent auction with fab prizes like tickets for four to Zanies comedy club, fancy cheese baskets, tickets to Chicago Shakespeare Co., and the price of admission is only 5 dollars.  This is a fundraiser so you can donate extra, but just because you don’t have too much cash that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t see a fun show for a good cause.  Adam is hosting this night and Patrick will be doing a piece on what it means to live off of Halsted.

We really hope the summer is treating you all right, and that you can make it to either of these shows.  Remember we are trying for September reading, we are currently in need of a space (Patrick is moving out of SWISSHaus).  But there are rumblings of bigger and better things for All The Writers I Know.  If you want to read, contact allthewritersiknow@gmail.com.
